Background
In 2019, Jeff handed Matt the reins. Matt rebranded the company as Florida's Best Pools and started bringing on partners to broaden the bench — Joe Ford on operations, Ronald Liddell on service management, Doug Santiago on field training. Same family standards, deeper expertise across every part of the business.
He's been running professional pool service routes in South Florida since the late 1990s, covering Las Olas Isles, Harbor Beach, Highland Beach, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and the coastal corridors in between. Over 35 years in and around the industry, he's serviced pools across Palm Beach and Broward counties — canal-front homes, country-club communities, oceanfront estates, and screen-enclosed suburban pools across every South Florida configuration.
Matt executes Florida's Best Pools' documented weekly protocol start to finish: deck and equipment walkthrough, full chemistry test, balance, skim, brush, vacuum, basket service, equipment inspection, and a photo-documented report available upon request. He's the technician behind many of the company's field protocols — including the iguana-response checklist and the coastal equipment-pad inspection standard. When a pool in South Florida needs to be right, Matt is the one doing the work.
Areas of expertise
- Weekly residential pool service — chemistry, equipment, and documentation
- Iguana-contamination response protocol and Salmonella risk mitigation
- Coastal equipment-pad inspection and salt-air corrosion identification
- Salt chlorinator systems and salt cell lifecycle management
- Canal-front and oceanfront pool chemistry management in South Florida

Notable work
- Executes the iguana-contamination response protocol — visual inspection, physical removal, shock treatment, photo documentation — on every affected pool visit across South Florida routes.
- Runs coastal equipment-pad inspections on Las Olas Isles, Harbor Beach, Highland Beach, and oceanfront Boca Raton routes, flagging corrosion and lifespan issues before equipment failure.
- Brings two generations of family knowledge to every pool he services — chemistry discipline, equipment intuition, and the refusal to cut corners his father, Jeff Balog, instilled from day one.
