How a heater install works
Most early heater failures we see trace back to the install: the wrong size, the wrong plumbing order, or not enough flow. So the install starts with measuring, not with picking a box.

- 1On-site sizing visit
We measure the pool, look at how and when you swim, and check your existing pad, plumbing, gas service, and electrical panel.
- 2Recommendation and written quote
You get a heat pump vs. gas recommendation with the reasoning, the unit we'd install, and one flat-rate price, including any gas or electrical work the site needs.
- 3Remove the old heater
We disconnect and haul away the old unit and prep the pad for the new one.
- 4Set, plumb, and connect
The new heater is set and plumbed in the right order with the flow it needs. A licensed gas contractor or electrician handles new gas lines or circuits when they're required.
- 5Startup and verification
We start the heater, confirm flow and temperature rise, check for codes, and walk you through the controls and settings.
- 6Warranty and records
We register the manufacturer warranty and note the install in your file, so future service starts from the facts.
Heat pump or gas? The honest answer for South Florida
For most pools here, a heat pump is the right heater. South Florida stays warm enough most of the year for a heat pump to heat efficiently, and it's the cheapest way to keep a pool at a steady temperature. Its weak spot is a cold snap, when it loses output.
Gas heats fastest and doesn't care about the air temperature, which makes it the better fit for spas, pools you heat only now and then, and owners who want warm water on demand during a cold front. It costs more per hour to run. Some properties run both: a heat pump for steady heat and gas for the spa or the cold weeks. Solar can carry a pool in the warmer months but rarely does the job alone in January.
Sizing is where installs go wrong
A heater that's too small never catches up in a cold week. One that's oversized for show costs more to buy and run, and heater performance depends on the flow through it. We size to your pool's surface area and volume, the temperature you want, and how fast you want to get there, then check that your pump and plumbing can deliver the flow the heater needs.
Before the visit, you can get a ballpark with our pool heater size calculator. It gives you the BTU range to expect, and we confirm the exact unit on site.

Sometimes. Most heater repairs run $250–$1,800 and are worth doing on a heater with life left in it. When the heat exchanger or compressor fails, a $4,000–$5,000 repair is usually the point where a new heater makes more sense. We'll diagnose first and give you both numbers before you decide.
