What This Is, and Isn't
This is the data side of the comparison: for each of the 31 heaters we quote and install most, what it is rated for, what its exchanger is made of, and what its manufacturer promises, all taken from the manufacturer's own documents.
Our opinion lives somewhere else. The FBP Heater Rating is built on these facts, and we keep the two apart so you can read the manufacturers' figures without our opinion in the way.
We install and service these brands. Picking a heater for your pool also depends on its size, your equipment pad, your gas and electrical service and your water chemistry, and that is a conversation we have on site.
- 1
Start from the manufacturer's own documents
For each model we collect the product page, the spec sheet or brochure, the installation or user manual, and the warranty terms. Third-party retailers, review sites and other comparison sites are not sources.
- 2
Record only what the documents state
Capacity, efficiency, heat exchanger material, flow, electrical, dimensions and warranty terms are copied as published. Where two documents disagree (a brochure weight against a product-page weight, a warranty sheet against a warranty web page), the model page says so instead of picking one quietly. A figure we can't find in a manufacturer document is left out, not estimated.
- 3
Re-open and re-match before the date moves
Each source document is fetched again and its text is searched for the model number, the rated capacity and the efficiency figure. The warranty year figures are checked against the warranty documents the same way. The date shown as last checked is the date that match last passed.

Show the sources
Every model page lists its documents with a link to each, its type and the date it was last checked, so you can read the primary source yourself.
What “Last Checked” Means
It is the date we last opened the manufacturer's documents and the model number, rated capacity and efficiency still matched what the page says. It does not mean the manufacturer hasn't changed anything since. Manufacturers revise specs and warranty terms without notice, and a warranty can depend on the installer, the dealer program and the channel the heater was bought through. Older dates are a starting point, and the exact term for your install goes on your written quote.
