Quick answer

To clear a green pool in Margate, we clean the filter first, dose with a measured, mineral-forward green-to-clean treatment, run the pump at full speed for about 48 hours, and physically vacuum the dead algae out with a self-contained vacuum that never runs through your equipment. Most pools are swim-ready in about 3 days — sometimes 24 hours, severe cases up to 7 — and we rarely need to drain. Flat-rate quote of $350–$1,200 after a free on-site inspection.

A Real 3-Visit Job.
Not One-and-Done Shock.

Green pool recovery is filtration, chemistry, and physical removal — done in the right order. We rarely need to drain, and the same technician handles every visit until you're clear.

Visit 1

Clean the filter, then dose correctly

We start by cleaning your filter so it runs at full efficiency from minute one — not after the algae has already clogged it. Then a measured chemical attack dialed to your pool's actual volume: roughly two 5-gallon jugs of liquid chlorine, about 12 oz of algaecide, acid to bring pH into range, and tablets. Pump goes to full speed and runs ~48 hours straight.

Visit 2

Vacuum out the dead algae, clean the filter again

We come back and vacuum the dead algae out with our self-contained vac — never through your filter or pump. Then we clean the filter again, now that it's loaded from the first 48 hours, and spot-check chemistry. This is the visit where most pools turn the corner from green to cloudy-blue.

Visit 3

Polish, free health check, and handoff

Final chemistry balance, a free overall pool-health inspection (equipment, filter condition, surfaces), and a clean handoff to weekly service. Crystal clear, swim-ready, and on a predictable rhythm — with the same technician who recovered it.

Why Our Recovery Is Different

We Vacuum the Algae Out — Not Through Your Equipment

Here's the part most companies won't tell you. There are two ways to vacuum a green pool — and they are not the same for your equipment.

The system vacuum others use
Green PoolYour Filter & PumpWaste

A system vac hooks into your equipment and pushes every bit of dead algae and sediment straight through the filter and pump you already own— gear that's usually already struggling. It loads the equipment, clogs the filter mid-job, and quietly shortens the life of your pad.

Our self-contained vacuum
Green PoolOur Own VacWaste

Debris goes into our own self-contained vacuum — never your filter or pump.Zero extra load on your equipment. It's tougher on us to haul and run, but it protects the most expensive part of your pool while it's already under stress. Your pump and filter aren't fighting a tank of dead algae.

Our Approach

Filtration First. Chemicals Second.

Most companies lead with chemicals — 10+ pounds of dry shock and a hope it holds. We do it the other way around on purpose. We get the filter cutting first, use a measured, mineral-forward green-to-clean instead of a bleach bomb, and then physically remove the dead algae and phosphates instead of just killing the green you can see. It's gentler on your equipment, gentler on the people who swim in it, and — because the food source is gone — it actually stays clear.

When chemistry is built on top of real filtration, a pool comes back pristine without overloading it on chlorine and stabilizer. After 40+ years and 10,000+pools, water chemistry is the thing we're best at — and the first place most green pools went wrong.

Why shocked pools turn green again

A heavy shock kills the surface algae but leaves the dead organic load and phosphates behind — the exact food the next bloom needs. A week later it's back. We get rid of it instead of killing most of it and letting it grow back.

Algae feeds on phosphates

Cartridge filters catch down to about 10–20 microns. Phosphates run 1–10 microns — too small to filter and they pass straight through to feed the next bloom. We treat the phosphate load, not just the visible green, so recovery actually lasts.

The Heavy-Shock Shortcut vs. The Florida's Best Pool Service Method

Both clear the green you can see today. Only one protects your equipment and keeps it from coming back.

The heavy-shock shortcut
Our method
10+ lbs of dry shock dumped in — chlorine spikes through the roof
Measured, mineral-forward green-to-clean dosed to your pool's real volume
pH crashes low — hard on plaster, surfaces, and your equipment
Balanced chemistry that protects your finish and your equipment pad
A system vacuum pushes dead algae straight through your filter and pump
Self-contained vacuum — zero extra load on the gear you already own
Algae often grows back within a week — only the surface was killed
Phosphates and dead organics physically removed, so it stays clear
Over-chlorinated water leaves you itchy if you swim too soon
Gentler water you can get back into sooner
What To Expect

How Long Does It Take?

Usually about 3 days. Sometimes as fast as 24 hours. Severe cases — black algae, total opacity — can take up to 7. The timeline comes down to two things on your equipment pad.

1. Pump horsepower

A strong pump turns the water over faster, so the filter sees the whole pool more often. We run yours at full speed for the recovery — a healthy pump and a clean, properly-sized filter can clear a pool in hours, not days.

2. Filter size & saturation

A filter can only hold so much dead algae per pass before it needs cleaning. An undersized or already-saturated filter takes longer because we have to stop and clean it more often. That's why we clean it before we start, and again on each visit.

One caveat on the dead algae: as it clears, the cloudy phase is normal — that's the precursor to fresh, clear water. We push through it instead of stopping at “good enough,” so it doesn't bloom again next week.

Straight Talk Before You Call Anyone

Two things we'll be honest with you about — because the wrong call here costs you more than the cleanup.

Your filter, honestly

If your pool got green enough to need a recovery, the filter has usually been working overtime — or wasn't maintained. A cartridge or grid only absorbs so much sediment over its life. During recovery we'll tell you straight whether yours can be cleaned and reused or is past its service life. We won't upsell a filter you don't need — but we also won't hand your pool back to weekly service on one that can't hold the line.

Thinking of doing it yourself?

You can. It usually runs $100–$200 in chemicals and a lot of guesswork. The real risk isn't the cost — it's the dosing. Too much acid or chlorine can etch plaster, fade your finish, and leave water you don't want to swim in. We carry the licensing, the insurance, and the chemistry so you're not gambling your finish on a guess — and you get it back faster.

Built for Margate's Toughest Algae Conditions

South Florida heat, humidity, and phosphate-rich irrigation water make Margatepools turn green fast. We've seen every algae type — and we know which protocol clears each one without draining.

Margate is one of Broward's older established suburbs, with many homes built in the 1970s and 1980s. That means a lot of older pool equipment hitting end-of-life all at once, hard city water, and a mix of single-family pools and condo-community shared pools where HOA documentation matters.

Our team specializes in green-to-clean recovery in Margate, restoring crystal-clear water without draining your pool in 3 days on average — sometimes in 24 hours.

We diagnose and clear every algae type:
